The Shigeru-2 variety is characterized by its full-bodied, weighty flavor. Combined with sweetness and the fragrant aroma typical of new tea, it results in a high-quality finish. The astringency is subdued, and you can enjoy a deep green color with a thick texture.

Savoring the New "Shigeru-2" Tea on a Rainy Day

What You'll Need

・ 4g of "2024 New Tea Shigeru-2" leaves
・ Water for first infusion: 120ml at 70°C (158°F)
・ Water for second infusion: 120ml at 80°C (176°F)

Brewing Instructions

1. First Infusion

Warm the teaware with hot water. Place the tea leaves in the teapot, pour in 120ml of 70°C (158°F) water, and steep for 1 minute and 20 seconds. Pour into your cup and enjoy.

2. Second Infusion

Pour 120ml of 80°C (176°F) water into the teapot, steep for 10 seconds, then pour into your cup to serve.

The "2024 New Tea Shigeru-2" has much less astringency than before, with increased sweet aroma, sweetness, and the refreshing quality of new tea, resulting in an indescribably mellow flavor. By gradually increasing the water temperature with each infusion, you can enjoy a third or even a fourth brew. Adding some "Nikomaru Brown Rice" to make genmaicha is also a great option.
