Savoring a rich ice cream slowly... what a blissful moment. But we'd like you to try making an elegant, rich sencha affogato as a slightly more elaborate dessert.
Affogato, which means "drowned" in Italian, is typically made by pouring espresso over ice cream. By using rich sencha instead, the tea's aroma and slight bitterness beautifully meld with the off-white ice cream, creating a sweet green blend.
After drowning the ice cream with plenty of sencha, enjoy the contrast of cold ice cream and warm tea in your mouth. Using "Smooth Domestic Powdered Green Tea" to quickly create a rich sencha sauce, indulge in this sweet and slightly bitter happiness for as long as time allows. Why not try experiencing such a moment?
How to Make Sencha Affogato
Ingredients (for 1 serving)
Smooth Domestic Powdered Green Tea: 2 sticks (7g)
Hot water: 1 tablespoon (about 15ml)
Vanilla ice cream: 1 serving (as desired)
[Point] We recommend using "ice cream" with high milk fat content rather than ice milk or lacto ice for a richer taste.
Preparation
[1] Dissolve "Smooth Domestic Powdered Green Tea" in hot water
Add 2 sticks of "Smooth Domestic Powdered Green Tea" to 10ml of hot water, then gradually add the remaining water to adjust the concentration. It's ready when you reach your preferred strength.
[2] Pour green tea over ice cream
After scooping vanilla ice cream into a bowl, pour the warm green tea over it.
Recommended Toppings
While the rich sencha affogato is delicious on its own, it's also fun to explore and create your own original toppings. Here are some popular tea snacks from Senchado Tokyo and other recommended toppings:
- Nikomaru brown rice
Enjoy the crispy texture and aromatic flavor. The most popular among our staff.
- Noble rot wine raisins
For those seeking a more adult flavor. The rich aroma of raisins is excellent.
- Kinako (roasted soybean flour)
Sprinkle generously over the ice cream for a gentle, toasty aroma.
- Azuki (red beans)
A reliable choice with great texture and taste. Try with tsubuan (chunky red bean paste) if you prefer.
- Mint
Experience a refreshing sensation after the slight bitterness of the tea leaves. A must-try for mint lovers.
