What are the taste and aroma of "Wakoucha Shizukaori"?

"Shizukaori" is a variety registered in Shizuoka, known for its high aroma as its name suggests. It's a cross between Okuhikari as the seed parent and Kuritawase as the pollen parent, offering a refreshing and juicy aroma, deep flavor, and delicate sweetness.
"Shizukaori" is a masterpiece finished as Japanese black tea through the fermentation process. Its elegant and refined aroma impressed us, leading to its selection as the first Japanese black tea handled by Sencha-do Tokyo.

Recommended Recipe

Unlike sencha, black tea releases its full flavor in one steeping. Use 120ml of 100°C water and steep for 2 minutes. This recipe allows the aroma to bloom most vibrantly.

What to Pair It With?

It's recommended to first taste "Shizukaori" on its own, then pair it with fruits that have a tart flavor and sweets that are crisp with moderate sweetness and good melt-in-your-mouth quality.
To enjoy the rich and complex flavors that you experience the moment you put "Shizukaori" in your mouth, it's best to pair it with foods that don't have overpowering aromas or tastes.

Appearance of Tea Leaves

Each leaf remains large and intact, showing excellent rehydration properties. The aroma of the dry leaves is subtle and refined, indicating an appropriate level of fermentation without being excessive.
