Perfect for Summer! Recipe for "Juniper Berry Tea Mojito" Made with Just Tea, Mint, and Carbonated Water

Senchado Tokyo's Ginza store and online shop have been offering a limited summer edition "Juniper Berry Tea" based on sencha since July 1, 2021 (Thursday). This blend tea combines "juniper berries," used for flavoring the distilled spirit "gin," with "Okumidori," known for its soft aroma and sweetness. Using only natural ingredients, this refreshing summer tea features the impactful coolness of juniper berries. Today, we're introducing an arrangement recipe: "Juniper Berry Tea Mojito"!

Juniper Berry Tea Mojito

Ingredients (for 2 servings)

- Juniper Berry Tea "Juniper Berry" × "Okumidori" 4g
- Hot water 80°C 100ml
- Carbonated water 120ml
- Ice cubes as needed
- Mint leaves as needed

Preparation

1. Brew the first infusion

Fill a server with plenty of ice cubes. Put 4g of "Juniper Berry Tea" in a teapot, add 100ml of 80°C water, wait for 1 minute, then pour into the server and stir.

2. Brew the second infusion

Add 120ml of carbonated water to the teapot from step 1, wait for 1 minute. Pour this into the server from step 1.

3. Serve in glasses

Set ice cubes in your preferred glasses and arrange mint leaves. Pour the tea from the server and top with mint to finish!

"Juniper Berry Tea" is delicious on its own. As the scent of juniper berries passes through your nose, a refreshing and spicy aroma lingers. Juniper berries are also a key ingredient in the distilled spirit "gin". Its compatibility with gin goes without saying. We recommend trying it with just a splash of gin to avoid overpowering the tea's aroma.
