When it comes to sweets that pair well with tea, anko (sweet red bean paste) is the first thing that comes to mind. However, the image of anko might differ from person to person. The "051 Shoju" tea we're introducing today is characterized by a faint butter-like aroma and a refreshing aftertaste. When combined with the Japanese-Western fusion "An-Butter Sandwich" - butter and anko sandwiched between fragrant bread slices - it enhances the sweetness and richness while cleansing the palate. This delightful combination makes each subsequent bite even more delicious. It's also perfect as a morning cup in place of coffee.
An-Butter Sandwich and "051 Shoju" Recipe
Enjoy the tea's flavor in the first brew. After a few sips, take a bite of the an-butter sandwich and let the butter melt in your mouth for a heavenly experience. For the second brew, bring out a bit more astringency for a change.
Ingredients
・ "051 Shoju" tea leaves: 4g ・ Hot water (1st brew): 100ml at 80°C ・ Hot water (2nd brew): 110ml at 85°C
Brewing Method
[1] First Brew
Put the tea leaves in the teapot, pour 120ml of 80°C water, steep for 35 seconds, then pour. [2] Second Brew
For the second brew, pour 120ml of 85°C water, steep for 15 seconds, then pour to complete!
The high-temperature brewed "051 Shoju" melts the butter, followed by the sweetness of anko. Indulge in the gentle, rounded flavors of "051 Shoju", butter, and anko. It's perfect for a relaxed weekend breakfast.
