Kotatsu and Mandarin Oranges, Rakugo and Tea: A "053 Haruto 34" Recipe for Days When You Want to Keep the New Year's Mood

Even though it's time to get back to the daily routine, I still want to indulge in the New Year's mood during the holidays. In this cold season, spending a luxurious day listening to rakugo while sipping tea with mandarin oranges by the kotatsu is a delightful way to relax. The perfect drink for such a leisurely time is "053 Haruto 34," an early-harvest tea from Miyazaki. This recipe complements the classic New Year's style of "kotatsu and mandarin oranges." Enjoy the refreshing taste and floral aroma that evoke the festive New Year's spirit and hint at the not-so-distant arrival of spring.

"053 Haruto 34" for Days When You Want to Keep the New Year's Mood

For the first infusion, brew at a lower temperature and enjoy the aroma as the tea leaves open. The refreshing umami pairs well with fruits like mandarin oranges.

Ingredients

・4g "053 Haruto 34" tea leaves
・120ml water at 75°C (first infusion)
・120ml water at 85°C (second infusion)

Preparation Method

【1】Brew the first infusion

Place the tea leaves in a teapot, pour in 120ml of water at 75°C, and steep for 1 minute and 20 seconds before pouring into a teacup.

【2】Brew the second infusion

For the second infusion, pour in 120ml of water at 85°C, steep for 20 seconds, and pour every last drop into the teacup.

"053 Haruto 34" is an extremely early-harvest variety, picked earlier than typical teas. Why not take a moment to anticipate the arrival of spring?
